Whats on in Mansfield and Mt Buller March 2009

Sunday 1st March – Join us at the Mansfield Golf Club for a 9-hole Evening Golf Event. This fundraiser, hosted by the Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary, is a three person Ambrose hitting off at 4.30pm sharp.
Great fun, great prizes. Entry fee is $25 per player or $15 for non players, includes the Baron of Barjarg’s Roast Smoked Beef, salads & home made sweets. MERRIJIG Saturday 7th March – An annual event not to be missed, this years Rodeo will be packed with thrills & spills & bulls & steers to excite. With program favourites such as the Saddle Bronc, Bareback Bronc, Barrel Races, Team, Breakaway and Steer Roping Events as well as the Local Steer Ride and Junior Steer Ride, there will be plenty of entertainment for the entire family. Enjoy sideshows, Clowns & Bull Fighters, merchandise, a variety of food stalls & a well stocked bar. The latest action packed Mechanical Bull will be available for you to test your skills upon. This event is non BYO. Tickets are only available at the gate & free camping is permitted. A shuttle bus will run from Mansfield. Rodeo entry is $20 adults, $5 children, $40 family (2 adults + 2 children) & seniors are $10. Children under 3yrs free. Gates open at 3pm and the Rodeo commences at 5pm. LIVE CELTIC MUSIC Saturday 7th March – Relax and enjoy an evening of live entertainment & fine food at Tangel-oz inMansfield. Performing will be ‘Island Celtic’ a talented ensemble that pays tribute to the Irish genre. SPINNING WORKSHOP AND OPEN DAY Saturday 7th - Monday 9th March – A fantastic opportunity to take part in this two day creative workshop titled “Experimental Spinning – Yarn With Character” with renowned teacher IIka White. Materials, morning tea, afternoon tea & lunch are provided. This workshop will be held at the new Crockett Cottage Studio in Mansfield on Saturday & Sunday from 9.30am – 4pm. PICNIC IN THE PARK Sunday 8th March – Celebrate Sunday of the Labour Day Long Weekend in style by heading out to Mirimbah Park at the base of Mt Buller for the popular ‘Picnic In The Park’ A variety of local wines will be on offer along with a vast selection of tasty treats from regional food specialists and eateries. Sit back & relax beside the Delatite River whilst enjoying an afternoon of fantastic live music. Entry fee is $10 per adult which includes a souvenir glass & complimentary glass of wine. OPEN GARDEN Sunday 8th March – Visit the historic Delatite Station in Delatite Lane, Mansfield and meander through the beautiful gardens. Plants will also be available for purchase on the day. Open Sunday only from 10.00am – 4.00pm with entry cost of $5.00 per person. No dogs allowed.

TWO DAY GOLF EVENT Sunday 8th - 9th March – A great team event for all golf enthusiasts, this Three Person Ambrose Classic takes place over the Labour Day Weekend with the first round being played at Benalla Golf Club on the Sunday, & the 2nd round played at Mansfield Golf Club on the Monday. CAMPERS SERVICE Labour Day Weekend – The Howqua Hills Trader will deliver supplies such as bread, milk, ice and newspapers to campsites between Fry’s Flat & Tunnel Bend from 9.30am on Saturday 7th, Sunday 8th and Monday 9th March. BRACKET AND JAM Friday 20th March – Join Dean & Gill at the Mansfield Regional Produce Store for an evening of popular live, local music featuring a host of the best musicians from around the region. FOOD AND WINE ON HIGH Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd March – Over this weekend there will be plenty of opportunities for you to ‘get behind the scenes’, meet the makers & taste the products. You will be able to tour farm gates, experience, taste and indulge. Mansfield’s Cafes will come alive at night with the ‘Restaurant Ramble’ where you can savour dishes made from local products—stay at one place or graze around. Sunday will feature local chef’s doing their stuff—making, baking & demonstrating their skills with trout & other farm gate produce. JAMIESON JAZZ Saturday 21st – Sunday 22nd March – Jamieson will be buzzing this weekend for their inaugural music lover’s jazz festival. Set in idyllic mountain country on the banks of the river, this festival will be an intimate, sensual experience. Performing will be a variety of sensational headline acts such as The Synchopaters, The Wizard and Oz, Yvette Johansson with her trio & Gil Askey and the Roger Clark Quartet. BIKE BULLER Saturday 21st – Sunday 22nd March – The Bike Buller Mountain Biking Festival brings all that is great about mountain biking to the one spectacular location for a massive weekend of bikes, single track, fresh air & partying at a place that is renowned for good times. Saturday 24th May

GOURMET FOOD AND WINE – Gourmet Food and Wine Tasting at Kinloch Wines Taste five fantastic Kinloch Wines that will be perfectly matched with delicious gourmet canapés prepared by Mansfield’s Travis Boltong who was trained by the acclaimed Chef and restauranteur, Gordon Ramsay. This is a Mansfield Hospital Auxiliary fundraiser which will run between 4.30pm – 6.30pm at the picturesque Kinloch Winery. Tickets are available from Wallaby Ritz in Mansfield. JUNIOR GOLF FUNDRAISER – Mansfield Golf Club Junior Foundation Fundraising Weekend Open to players of all ages, this fundraising weekend sees golfers teeing off for a 4bbb Stableford on Saturday and a 2 person Ambrose on the Sunday. CAFÉ CONCERT SERIES – The Arts Council of Mansfield, MMuDS and the Kookaburra Club present Dev’lish Mary with supporting act Joel Olver and Paul Riley. Dev’lish Mary are old time and western swing junkies from way back who have come together to play lively and energetic hillbilly and American roots music. When singing together these lasses create harmonies reminiscent of the Andrew Sisters. Commencing from 4.30pm in the Jamieson Community Hall.
