HATS AT THE MANOR Thursday 17th September – This very popular Mansfield District Hospital Auxiliary Fundraiser, at Highton Manor is a special treat this year. Not only will you learn how to make a hat, you will learn how to decorate cup cakes as hats! Commencing at 11.30am, well known local milliner Cathy Chivers will demonstrate how to make a hat from scratch followed by a light luncheon with wine. After lunch, Kim Patterson of Kim’s cakes will then show you how to decorate cup cakes as hats

NEW YEAR’S DAY RACES Thursday 1st January – Kick off 2009 with a day out at the Merton Picnic Races. Plenty of fun for everyone with Fashions on the Field, Bookmakers, local wines, a Publicans Booth (BYO is also permitted), light refreshments and kids activities. CATTLEMAN’S GET TOGETHER Friday 9th – Sunday 11th January – The Mountain Cattleman’s Get Together is coming our way this year. Head out to Buttercup Road in Merrijig for the Reunion of the Cracks from the Man from Snowy River movies, including Tom Burlinson, Sigrid Thornton and other cast
members. There is a huge list of events such as the Cattleman’s Cup, Packhorse

Until Tuesday 4th November – The Spring Arts Walk exhibitions continue in café venues throughout Mansfield till November 4th. Sculpture, visual art, photography & textiles are some of the mediums used in this exhibition enabling artists to interpret the legends & spirit of the High Country. All artwork is for sale. Until Tuesday 4th November – The focus of this popular festival is ‘Legends’, with High Country
Huts, Horses & Legends of the High Country providing plenty of scope for artists and erformers,
community groups and history addicts to create and discover new ways to enjoy the High Country.
Traditional events such as the Grand Parade, Fireworks Extravaganza, Spring Arts Walk & the
Picnic Races will be complimented by a program full of new events. The festival continues until
Tuesday 4th November and concludes with the Mansfield Races. COMMUNITY BREAKFAST - The Merrijig Hall is soon to be refurbished, so to give the hall it’s last hoorah and to celebrate the beginning of winter 2008, join the Merrijig Public Hall Committee for a ‘Welcome To Winter’ breakfast. Sausages, eggs, bacon, muffins, tea, coffee and orange juice are all provided. BYO champagne and glass. The committee’s motto is ‘We cook – You eat’ and everyone is welcome. ARTIST BUSINESS WORKSHOP - Whether you work full time as an artist, or supplement your artistic career with other work, you canimprove your knowledge and skills at this free workshop. This program run by the Australia Business Arts Foundation includes presentations by industry experts, leading visual artists, gallery professionals and arts managers. It covers such topics as promotion and media, building relationships with clients and galleries, and business basics. The workshop runs from 9am – 5pm at the Mansfield Shire

CLIMATE ACTION GROUP GATHERING - Mansfield Environment and Climate Action Group are holding a discussion evening on Solar power from 5.30pm at the Mansfield Regional Produce Store. A panel, including guests Paul Matthews from Solar Phase and Paul Cooney from Solarco, will discuss such topics as hot water systems, power and grid feed, pumps and hydronics and current information on Federal and State Government subsidies.

The Mansfield Produce Store is again hosting a BRACKET AND JAM session featuring Mansfield’s most popular live music. Jo Jo Smith, Alastair Pirie and a host of the best musicians from around the region will be cranking out the tunes. Dinner from 6.30pm with entertainment kicking off from 7.30pm. GOOD VIBES CONCERT for Liam Bradley - A fundraising event not to be missed! With Tom Gleisner as compare and featuring performances by many of our renowned musicians, this is going to be a very special evening. Want to know more about the community in Mansfield? The Mansfield Shire Connected Community FESTIVAL are getting the services and groups that support your community together on the median strip in High Street Mansfield from 10am until 3pm.

Check out the CHARITY GOLF DAY held at the Mansfield Golf Club. The tee off is from 7.30am. $30.00 green fees cover two course roast lunch, on course finger food and refreshments, and a BBQ dinner.
